Off the floor is worth more than any amount of padding in winter — a bed on tile will always be cold, so a rug underneath does more than a thicker cushion. Wash on a gentle cycle and dry flat rather than in a dryer, which compacts the padding and is what turns a good bed into a thin one. Size up if your dog sleeps stretched out rather than curled.
