Put it where the animal already sleeps rather than where you would like them to — a bed in the wrong corner stays empty. Against a wall or beside a couch works better than the middle of a room, since the bolster only helps if there is a back to it. Wash the cover on a cool gentle cycle and air dry; heat flattens the pile faster than use does.
