Don't overfill it — about two-thirds gives the food room to tumble, which is the whole point. Oil the vegetables before they go in rather than after, since you can't get to them once it's closed. Give it a roll every couple of minutes instead of constantly; letting a side sit long enough to colour is what you're after.
